| Located near city hall at Le Parc de la Paix in Ville-Mont-Tremblant, this monument honoring the first settlers to come to the Mont-Tremblant region commemorates their contribution to the region's development.
The monument --a door opening into the future-- consists of sculpted pieces made of ceramic-concrete. These blocks embody 12 scenes showing the settlers' daily lives as newcomers in the Mont-Tremblant region. They were created based on four themes selected by the SOPABIC* organisation: Lives of the Settlers, Log Driving, Religion and Water.
*SOPABIC: Société du Heritage du bassin inférieur de la Rouge et de la chaîne géologique du Mont-Tremblant. (Heritage Society of the Rouge and of the Mont-Tremblant geological chain). An organization devoted to raising awareness about our heritage and helping preserve it.
